Near a quiet little village in the Calvados region of Normandy, Camping La Roseraie d’Omaha is a rural family site just 4 km. from the sea and close to the D-Day landing beaches. The 51 touring pitches all have electricity (10A, Europlug) and 30 also have a water tap and drain; there is some shade in places. There are also 37 mobile homes and bungalows, most available to rent. The site is close to the N13 Cherbourg-Caen dual carriageway, so is convenient for an overnight stop as well as being a good base from which to explore the Normandy countryside and coastline. Some noise should be expected from the nearby dual carriageway.

The area is excellent for visiting on foot and by car or bicycle, with cycle routes starting from the site and joining up with dedicated cycle tracks to Arromanches and to Bayeux. This medieval town, famous for its tapestry, has done a great deal recently to make life easier for both cyclists and motorists: cycle tracks and excellent parking provision mean that visitors can make the most of the historic sights and the modern shops, bars and restaurants. The American military cemetery at Omaha beach, which also has a museum, is close at hand whilst the remaining beaches are all within reach. The nearby fishing village of Port-en-Bessin has shops, bars and restaurants.

Directions to Camping la Roseraie d’Omaha

Surrain is 44 km northwest of Caen. From N13 take exit 38 (Mosles) and continue northeast on N2013/D613 for 9 km. towards Surrain; site is on left before village. From west take exit for Formigny/Omaha beach, turn left to cross N13 and immediately right onto D613/D123 to Surrain. In village turn south on D208 to site on right in 200 m.
