Alan Rogers Review of Camping la Rochette
At a height of 800 metres, this attractive municipal site looks fresh and well kept. Located in a beautiful mountainous region, it is run under contract by a very welcoming young couple who are fully responsible for the day-to-day running of the site. There are 190 grassy pitches, separated by trees that give welcome shade, with 180 for touring; all have 4-10A electricity. The excellent, clean facilities are immaculately kept. Although there are few amenities on site, most can be found in the town, only ten minutes’ walk away. The Monday market is well worth a visit. English and Dutch are spoken.
This area is renowned for its many outdoor pursuits. Walking, cycling, canoeing, white water adventure and paragliding are all within easy reach of the site. Other activities include visits to a silver mine, panoramic cable car trip and a tour of various gourmet outlets.
Facilities at Camping la Rochette
Three well appointed toilet blocks are clean and modern. Accessible facilities. Small shop, snack bar/takeaway and restaurant (end Jun - end Aug). Heated outdoor swimming pool (July/Aug). Play area. Boules. Bicycle hire. Only gas and electric barbecues are permitted. Internet access and WiFi throughout (free).
Directions to Camping la Rochette
Between Briançon and Gap on the RN94, at roundabout signed Guillestre, turn towards the village. Site is signed with the entrance in 900 m.
