Alan Rogers Review of Camping la Ramade
This is a small campsite with just 40 pitches on the banks of the Plan d’Eau de La Ramade, on the eastern fringe of the Creuse; it is around an hour’s drive west of Clermont-Ferrand. The lake is very popular with anglers and is well stocked with a wide variety of freshwater fish. There is also a popular snack bar (open from May to September) which features an attractively priced lunch menu. Pitches here are of a good size and grassy, with reasonable shade. The surrounding countryside offers numerous opportunities for walking and cycling and the site managers will be pleased to recommend possible routes.
Various other adventure sports are possible and the winter resorts of La Bourboule and Le Mont Dore are close at hand. The national park of Millevaches (1,000 lakes, not cows!) is also nearby. To the north, the Gallo-Roman town of Aubusson merits a visit. It is renowned for the quality of its tapestries and is home to an interesting tapestry museum.

Two sanitary blocks provide basic facilities including Accessible facilities, Laundry sinks. Bar, restaurant and snack bar (July/Aug). Play area. Direct lake access. Fishing. WiFi near bar area.
Directions to Camping la Ramade
The site is west of Clermont-Ferrand. Approaching from there, use D941, passing through Pontaumur and then take the southbound D13 to Giat. The site is well signed from here.
