Alan Rogers Review of Camping la Chauderie
La Chauderie is owned and run by an enthusiastic young Dutch couple. It boasts its own beautiful and totally natural waterfall on the small La Burande river. There are 75 terraced pitches arranged in small groups radiating from the winding central site road. All have 6A electricity and some are separated by hedging. A bar with terrace serving light meals adds to the relaxed, family atmosphere at this happy, well run site. Views from the site include the Puy de Sancy and the village of La Tour-d’Auvergne. There are plenty of walks available in the area. Cycling and sightseeing are available in the surrounding Parc des Volcans national park.
The nearby pretty hillside village of La Tour-d’Auvergne is just a short walk away. Here a bank, pharmacy, bakery, small supermarket and bars can be found, together with superb views across the countryside. A small lake is close by where fishing and swimming can be enjoyed; a lifeguard is on duty in high season. Just 200 metres from where the river leaves the campsite it flows over the very impressive Saint Elisabeth Cascade. This site is 930 m. above sea level and is intended to provide simple family holidays where nature can be appreciated at its best. Organised walks are available to explore the local countryside.
Facilities at Camping la Chauderie
Two very clean sanitary blocks (one small and unisex, the other larger with separate facilities for ladies and men and includes accessible facilities). Baby room. Laundry facilities in lower block. Bar and snack bar. Takeaway (June-Aug). TV room. Games room. Playground for small children. Football and volleyball areas. Boules. WiFi (free for 30 mins. per day, then charged).
Directions to Camping la Chauderie
Leave A89 at exit 25 (St Julien Puy Laveze) and head south on D98. Join D922 Westbound for 8 km. then take D203 south to site 9 km. on left.
