Alan Rogers Review of Camping la Cascade
La Cascade is situated between the river Armancon and the Bourgogne canal on the northeast side of Tonnerre. The 54 touring pitches with no defined boundaries are amongst the shade of mature trees, on level grass and are generally of a good size. All have electricity (10A) and several water points are provided around the site. The modern sanitary block is clean and well maintained but will probably struggle to meet the demand in high season. Just outside the campsite there is access to a shallow bathing part of the river with adjoining grassed area with picnic tables.
Tonnerre is in an area renowned for vineyards so there is plenty of opportunity to taste and buy the regional white wine. The town itself, despite being neglected, has two main attractions; the interesting town with its L’Hotel Dieu, a medieval hospital complex built in the 13th century and at the time the largest in France and also La Fosse Dionne, a natural water source producing 200 litres per second. The latter is a source of mystery.

Modern toilet block includes some washbasins in cabins. Accessible Facilities. Washing machine and dryer. Motorhome services. Bar, restaurant and snack bar (from 2/7). Bread to order. Small, heated outdoor pool (8x4 m). TV room. Play area (under 5’s). Children’s clubs and entertainment (high season). Free WiFi at reception and restaurant.

A6 from Paris exit 20. A6 from Lyon exit 21. Follow signs from Tonnerre and on entering town, campsite is clearly signed.
