Alan Rogers Review
This is a small, uncomplicated and tranquil city site with the advantage of being on top of a cliff at the water’s edge. The 80 level touring pitches (40-50 sq.m) are on gravel with shade from some tall trees and artificial bamboo screens. The sanitary facilities are adequate (some private facilities for hire).
There is no pool, but the views of the water compensate and there are delightful rock pools in the sea just a few steps from the campsite. An attractive restaurant offers food in the summer high season. Camping Jonio is ideal for a short stay to unwind.
You could bask in the sun on the rocky platforms and dive into the clear waters, or take advantage of the many excursions to the local historical sites. Excellent winter rates are available for long-stay visitors. Five languages including English are spoken and access to the site is good.
Basic, but clean sanitary facilities in two blocks, one small block for men and another for women. Laundry with rooftop drying area. Shop. Bar and restaurant. Takeaway. Basic old-style playground (supervision recommended). Entertainment (high season). Diving school. Access to a small gravel beach. Excursions. WiFi over site (charged).
From A18 Catania exit follow signs to the coast road (SS114) towards Ognina. Site is off the SS114 (signed) on the northeast outskirts of town. Access to site is off the small one way system and via the site’s separate car park.Link to campsite location map on google
