Argentario is split into three areas. One is a huge, brick built apartment and bungalow complex; the second is a large, flat, shaded area for motorhomes and large caravans (4-6A electricity); the third is a separate shaded beach camping area with direct access to the dark sand. The 800 pitches and additional accommodation share facilities, so these can be very busy in high season and involve some walking. The infrastructure is newish (2010) and elegantly designed. There is daily organised entertainment with something for everyone.

Some campers may find the long walks trying, especially as the older style facilities are tired and stressed during peak periods. A traditional restaurant and pizzeria is remote from the touring section and has no views. The beach of dark sand has attractive views across to the mountains. We see this site more for short stays than extended holidays and as unsuitable for those with reduced mobility.

Facilities at Camping International Argentario

Three mature blocks have mostly squat style toilets, a few cramped showers with hot water, and cold water at the sinks (showers are very busy at peak periods)Those with accessibility issues may find the sand surface and remoteness of some facilities are unsuitable. Washing machines. Motorhome services. Shop. Restaurant, bar and takeaway. Swimming pools. Tennis. Boat hire. Minigolf. Entertainment, ATM. Free WiFi. Cars are parked in a separate car park in high season. Torches very useful. Dogs are not accepted.

Directions to Camping International Argentario

Site is south of Grosseto, off the SS1 at the 150 km. mark, signed Porto San Stefano. Ignore the first ‘combined’ campsite sign and proceed 300 m. to the main entrance.
