Camping Heliopolis

Heliopolis is an attractive, well run site with a charming, English-speaking lady owner named Gigliola. She is delighted to receive British customers at Heliopolis, which is very popular with Italians. This is an unusual site for the Adriatic as the pitches have their own neat, clean and covered private units with shower/WC and washing facilities. The pitches are of average size arranged in rows at right angles to the beach, most with artificial shade provided and all with electricity. Cars may be parked elsewhere. The site opens directly onto a pleasant, wide sand and shingle beach.

This shelves gently in most conditions and various beach activities are available. Like many Adriatic sites, it is close to the railway and there is some noise from passing trains especially on the western side of the site. An attractive covered restaurant will make you local dishes and pizzas and the house wine is very good. A separate bar operates at all times and overlooks the clean pools. From the terraces you can enjoy the organised entertainment that the Italians love. The fun is contagious, you can get involved as much as you wish and practise your Italian. The shop is amazingly reasonable and offers all manner of goods and attractive souvenirs of the Abruzzo region. If you would like to experience what we consider to be a ‘real’ Italian campsite then this may be for you.

Two excellent toilet blocks, one for men and one for women, include accessible facilities. Individual units for 120 of the 160 pitches. Laundry facilities. Bar/coffee shop. Restaurant (weekends only until 1/6). Shops (from 1/6). Swimming pool (from 15/6). Tennis. Playground. Games room. Entertainment in high season. Torches required near beach areas.

Location

Site is north of the town sharing an approach with Camping Pineto Beach; both sites are clearly signed from A14 road (exit Pineto) and SS16 (in town).
