Alan Rogers Review of Camping du l’ile de Bidounet
Located on an island in the Tarn river, this rustic site has a rather unique location. Reception is at the entrance to an old watermill, and you reach the pitches by passing through a three-metre-high passageway through the building itself, then over a short, curved bridge onto the island.
There are 97 touring pitches, arranged in groups of three and most give views of the river. Others have views of the old buildings of Moissac on the river bank. A small pool complex is situated in the grass area before the pitches, and you can watch people sailing and fishing on the river.
A small selection of groceries is available in reception and there is a games area. An activity club for children runs six days a week. Bread is delivered to the pitch area each morning in a small van (no pre-ordering required). A small bar is at one end of the games room and serves soft and alcoholic drinks, ice creams, etc. The ancient riverside town of Moissac, a famous resting place for travellers in times gone by has lots to see, including its resplendent abbey, as well as the full range of shops and services that one would expect.
Facilities at Camping du l’ile de Bidounet
Two toilet blocks in the traditional style are well-placed and should be adequate. Some washbasins in cubicles, modern showers. Facilities for babies and young children. Excellent accessible unit . Washing machines and dryer. Motorhome service point. Basic provisions from reception, bread delivery. Games room with small bar (high season). Swimming pool (seasonal). Boules. Bright play area. Organised activities for children (high season). No electric barbecues are permitted on pitches or communal areas. Fishing. WiFi room (free).
Directions to Camping du l’ile de Bidounet
From the A62 leave at exit 9 (Castelsarrasin) and head due north for 8 km. on N113 for Moissac. On arriving at the town take the first exit from roundabout and follow for 300 m. to site on the left.
