Alan Rogers Review
Tucked under mature trees, this family site has direct access to the river and across a little bridge to a soft sand beach with fabulous views of Calvi. It is rustic, as are all sites on the west coast, but is a cut above most. Small boats may be moored by the river bridge (caution with children) and the sea is 30 m. away. A pleasant little traditional restaurant and bar are in the centre of the site. There are 200 informal touring pitches, under shade and with 10A electricity (long leads may be required in some areas).
A few pitches have views of the river and most are flat with sand and grass. Large units will have no access problems here. The family are very friendly and some English and Dutch is spoken. The campers we met here were very happy with this natural site. The great strength of the site is the river and beach access. A morning walk along the beach is bracing and very pleasant. Take your camera as the views of the citadel town from the beach are great. Swimming here is safe and the sand is soft. It is possible to walk into the town along the beach if you are feeling energetic. The town and harbour are well worth exploring, better on foot as parking is difficult.
Three sanitary blocks are dated but well looked after and kept clean. Solar powered for hot water and British style toilets. Pushbutton hot showers. Basic baby area. Shop. Bar and restaurant with TV and pleasant patio. Pizzeria (May-Sept). Play area. Tennis. Communal barbecue area. Torches are required. Mooring for small boats. Fishing. WiFi.
Site is north of Bastia on RN197. On approach to the town from the north it is well signed, 3 km. from town down a minor road towards I’lle Rousse and the beach.
