Alan Rogers Review of Camping de la Vall d’Ager
Ager is a paradise for hang-gliders. The Montsec mountain range (1,677 m) towers over the site in the Catalan pre-Pyrenees. There are 182 pitches (85 for touring) on terraced and slightly sloping ground, marked out by trees and with shade. Electricity (10A) is available to all and water points are distributed around the site. The touring pitches are on the small side and not suitable for large units. Site activities revolve around hang-gliding – one of the landing sites is just outside the perimeter and even the beer pump is in the form of a hang-glider!
There is a large bar with snack area and a restaurant which offers local fare at good prices. The pool (refurbished for summer 2012) is most welcome as it is hot and a little dusty in this area in high summer. The site can arrange many sports activities for customers, including hang-gliding, kayaking, riding, mountain biking, quad biking, climbing and walking. It will particularly suit those who enjoy hang-gliding and other active sports and also those who are looking to spend a few days in the pre-Pyrenees countryside. Spanish and French are spoken, but no English.
Facilities at Camping de la Vall d’Ager
A central sanitary building provides large showers (with divider and lots of room to change). Separate accessible facilities. Washing machine and dryer downstairs. Bar, snack bar and restaurant (all year). Shop (July/Aug). Swimming pools (high season). Football pitch (accessed via steep steps). Bicycle hire. Boules. Barbecue. Play area. Torches are required. Free WiFi in bar area.
Directions to Camping de la Vall d’Ager
Site on C12 Balaguer-Tremp road. On reaching northern edge of village, turn left just before garage and after 200 km. sign. Site is signed.
