This attractive site is convenient for Chamonix, yet in a tranquil setting away from its hustle and bustle. The buildings are of typical regional timber construction, decorated with traditional painted flower designs. Returning in 2015, the English-speaking owners are making every effort to keep it as natural as possible, therefore it is without a pool, restaurant, bar or disco and is well suited to those looking for quiet and relaxation. There are 150 pitches of varying sizes, most with shade and 75 have electricity connections (3-6A). Visitors are provided with a free bus or train pass in order to visit Chamonix town, as well as the surrounding area, during their stay.

The site is in a large level clearing, within a wooded area with a stunning view of the Mont Blanc range. The area is rich in trails for walking and mountain biking and many pass nearby. Alpinists are made especially welcome in low season.

Three sanitary blocks with accessible facilities. Washing machine, dryer. Motorhome services. Small shop for essentials. Bread. Buvette for drinks and snacks. Pizza and crêpe vans twice weekly in July/Aug. Meeting room, snack preparation. Playground for young children. Free WiFi over part of site. Free charging point for mobile phones etc.

Directions to Camping de la Mer de Glace

From Chamonix take D1506 (previously N506) northeast towards Les Praz. After 1 km. site signed to right. NOTE: the first two signs direct you under a 2.4 m. high bridge. Continue to a small roundabout at entrance to Les Praz, turn right and follow signs.
