For those wishing to visit the famous Bohinj valley, which stretches like a fjord right into the heart of the Julian Alps, Danica Bohinj is an ideal site lying in the valley 3 km. downstream of Lake Bohinjsko. It is spacious, stretching from the main road to the banks of the Sava river, on a flat meadow set in natural woodland. This excellent site has 165 pitches, 145 for touring units (all with 16A electricity), and forms an ideal base for the many sporting activities the area has to offer. Reception is well supplied with maps and tourist information as well as helpful advice as to the state of the various mountain trails.
For those wishing to travel south towards Tolmin, Nova Gorica or Trieste, there is a car train that travels from Bohinjska Bistrica to Podbrdo. Although the train journey takes only a few minutes, it may be preferable to the mountain road with its steep, narrow inclines climbing to 1,277 metres.
