This slightly terraced campsite is located in a beautiful estate, dominated by the 16th-century château, on the banks of a very clean lake in this lesser known part of the Dordogne valley. The very friendly family ensures that everything is of a very high standard. Nearly all of the 250 grassy pitches are used for touring units. All have electricity (10A) and are separated by a variety of mature trees giving varying amounts of shade. Many of the trees have low branches making access to most pitches rather difficult for large motorhomes. Some pitches have an ideal position alongside the lake.

The attractive bar, restaurant and disco in the château is set well away from the pitches. The swimming pool and good sized paddling pool, with large sunbathing terrace, are alongside the spacious and well equipped play area. Boats of up to 10 hp can be used on the lake for watersports and fishing. This region is famous for its prehistoric caves, castles, museums and ancient villages and their markets.

Four modern, spacious and very clean toilet blocks include many large cubicles with a shower and washbasin. Good accessible facilities. Washing machine and dryer. Good shop for basics. Bar, snack and takeaway (July/Aug). Swimming and paddling pools. Fitness room. Range of family activities in July/Aug, including dance evenings, folklore events, watersports, walking and cycling. Bicycle hire (July/Aug). TV room. Boules. Communal barbecue areas. WiFi.

Directions to Camping Château de Gibanel

Site is 5 km. northeast of Argentat. Take D18, signed Egletons, and after 4 km, alongside the lake, fork right at site sign. Follow lane down to site.
