This smart, well-run site is close to three fine sandy beaches so gets very busy at peak times. It has a backdrop of the mountains in the nature reserve known as the Sueve which is important for a breed of short Asturian horse, the Asturcone. The site has 330 grass pitches (260 for touring units) of 40-70 sq.m. and with 180 electricity connections available (10A). There are some shady, terraced pitches while others are on an open, slightly sloping field with limited views of the sea. The restaurant with a terrace serves local dishes and overlooks the pool with hills and woods beyond.
The mountains of Picos de Europa are only 35 km. away, Covadonga and its lakes are near and Ribadesella is 12 km. It is an ideal area for sea and mountain sports, horse riding, walking, birdwatching and cycling. The A8 motorway viaduct curves its way across the valley inland from the site and there is some traffic noise.

Swimming pool. Tennis. Play area in lemon orchard. Limited English is spoken. No electric barbecues. WiFi in the restaurant area.

Caravia Alta is 50 km. east of Gijón. Leave A8 Santander-Oviedo motorway at 330 km. exit, turn left on N632 towards Colunga and site is signed to right in village, near 16 km. marker. Care needed upon site entry and exit.
