This well-organised campsite occupies a fine village location in Picardy in the coastal hinterland and is within 12 km of several sandy beaches, but also has an excellent pool complex, small restaurant and bar. The owner has carefully controlled the size of the site, leaving space for a leisure area with an indoor pool complex. There are 164 pitches in total, but with many holiday homes and chalets (some for hire), there are only 50 for touring units. These are on grass, some are divided by small hedges, with 6/10A electric hook-ups, and ten have full services. Amenities on the site include a fitness trail and running track, a mountain bike circuit and plenty of pleasant paths for evening strolls. High-quality meals can be enjoyed in the site’s lovely restaurant which has a superb upstairs room overlooking the pool and gardens (book at busy times).

Ideas for excursions include the 15/16th century chapel and hospice and the Aviation Museum at Rue, Valloire Abbey and gardens, and the steam railway which runs from Le Crotoy to Cayeux-sur-Mer around the Baie de Somme. Another enjoyable family day out would be to cycle the traffic-free route around the bay.

Directions to Camping Capfun Le Val d'Authie

Villers-sur-Authie is 25 km. north-northwest of Abbeville. From A16 exit 24 take N1 to Vron, then left on D175 to Villers-sur-Authie. Or use D85 from Rue, or D485 from Nampont-St Martin. Site is at southern end of village at road junction.
