Camping Canoe Gorges du Tarn is in the southern French department of Aveyron. This family campsite is an elongated site right on the Tarn River. The site has 125 grass pitches, of which 96 are for touring units, and it has a 6/10-amp hook-up point. Trees, hedges, and shrubs give the site a green look and separate the pitches.

At the front of the campsite, you will find the shop, bar and restaurant which serves various dishes including pizza. The restaurant also has a terrace which overlooks the swimming pool. The swimming pool and toddler pool are directly in the sun, making it the perfect area to soak up the sun on one of the sun loungers. Around both pools, you can enjoy the sun while relaxing on a lounger. If this wasn't enough for water fun, two pebble beaches are located by the river, perfect for children to splash around in as the water is shallow. Children can enjoy the playing field with a bouncy castle and trampoline. There are also several sports fields where you can have a friendly football match or two with fellow campers. Entertainment is also offered in high season, including themed evenings and live music.

A treat for us at dusk was to watch beavers playing and swimming on the far river bank. We were told this happens nearly every day. The site is near the village of Rivière-sur-Tarn and the mouth of the Gorges du Tarn. It is 10 km. from the town of Millau, now famous for its spectacular bridge designed by Norman Foster that carries the A75 over the Tarn valley. Some English is spoken.

Directions to Camping Canoe Gorges du Tarn

From the A75/E11 at exit 44.1 join the D29 towards Aguessac. At Aguessac turn left to join the D907 Gorges du Tarn (well signposted), just before Rivière-sur-Tarn you will see an indoor fruit and vegetable market on your left, the site is located on the little road opposite.
