The family friendly Camping Calède is in the heart of the Landes forest with access to the vast Lac de Parentis. An attractive lake with flower beds greets you at the entrance, to which there is direct access for swimming, fishing, water-skiing and other boating activities, with moorings for boats at the end of the campsite. The 80 pitches (65 for touring with 6A electricity) are shaded by the tall trees typical of the surrounding forest of the region and separated by smaller trees and hedges. The private sandy beach invites you to swim in the lake and consider a host of other water sports. Bicycles can be hired on site to explore the area, with miles of top class cycle tracks.

The Landes region is, of course, heavily forested with miles of broad sandy beaches. The beach at Biscarrosse Plage is within easy reach, and the view from the top of the immense Dune de Pyla (Pilat) is worth the effort to ascend its top (about 108 m. above sea level). For a quieter day out, a visit to the ornithological park at Arcachon is a must. Organised tours of the Arcachon basin are possible on one of the many small craft that stop at Cap Ferret and Bélisaire. Bordeaux offers many cultural venues, along with historical sites and shopping. The vineyards of the Medoc produce some wonderful wines, and tours of the châteaux are most enjoyable.
