While Calella itself may conjure up visions of mass tourism, this site is set on a very steep hillside some 3 km. out of the town. Any noise from the nearby coast road and railway gets lost as you gain height. Of the 160 pitches, 120 are for touring units, all with electricity and on flat terraces on the slopes, with some shade. The remaining pitches are occupied by Spanish seasonal units. There are good views of the sea from the terraces. The access road is extremely steep, with most of the pitches enjoying the lovely views. The site has been under new ownership since 2011, although at the time of our visit there was little evidence of any development other than the addition of six tents to rent.
There are good beaches (including a naturist beach) just across the road and railway, accessible via a tunnel and crossing. Although the site remains open all year, amenities appear limited outside high season.
Facilities at Camping Botànic Bona Vista Kim
Three sanitary blocks, dated but clean. Some washbasins in cabins in the newest block. Baby room. Washing machines. Bar/restaurant, takeaway and shop (said to be all year, but barely open when we visited in May). Shop just outside entrance (open when neighbouring site is open). Outdoor pool (high season). Play area. Bicycle hire. Satellite TV. WiFi throughout (on payment).
Directions to Camping Botànic Bona Vista Kim
From N11 coast road, site is signed south of Calella (km. 665), and is on the coastal side of road. The road is busy but site signs give ample warning of the entrance (shared). Entrance is very steep. From the Barcelona direction, pass site and turn at the roundabout in 800 m.
