With its wonderful location in a quiet river valley with views of the surrounding mountains, Camping Baliera is an excellent site for enjoying this beautiful area which offers a wide range of active and less strenuous outdoor pursuits.
Combining camping with timber chalets and apartments, the site, under the energetic ownership of Sergi, has 143 well-kept grass touring pitches (80-120 sq.m) which are open and spacious. All have electricity (5/7/10A). The approach to this site is by narrow and winding mountain roads, and it is 5 km. from the nearest village. However, the trip is well worth making.
An outdoor swimming pool is open in high season. At this time an entertainment team organises excursions in the local area and activities such as cinema, handicrafts and sports. With two National Parks within 10 km. the site is ideally positioned for more arduous activities such as climbing, canyoning and white water rafting as well as the less strenuous pastimes of walking, cycling and fishing. The area is also a haven for wildlife. The site has its own swimming area in the river which passes it. Helpful information and publications are available from the English speaking reception staff. There is no restaurant or bar, although the reception area is an active social hub.
Facilities
Two heated toilet blocks, one part of the apartment block near the entrance, the other in the reception building (closed in low season). They are good with well-equipped showers and vanity-style washbasins. Laundry room and drying room. Motorhome services. Shop (July/Aug). Bar (automatic). Takeaway (July/Aug). Swimming pool (high season). Fitness equipment. Play area. Entertainment in high season. Communal barbecue. WiFi.
Location
On N230, 34 km. south of Vielha, turn on N260 for 2-3 km, then onto A1605 signed Graus for 100 m. to site on left. Reception is 200 m. through the site. Approach roads are narrow and winding, but navigable.
