Camping Bacchus is a small but welcoming site in a remote area. Just a handful of its 55 pitches are available for tourers with the rest taken up by mobile homes and caravans to rent. The site is on partly sloping ground with shade provided by pine trees. It is 100 m. from a sandy beach, where there are great views out over the Aegean Sea and its islands.

The campsite shop opens all year but stock is rather limited. There is also a bar (all year) and restaurant (May to October). The temple of Poseidon is only 4.5 km. along the coastal road.

In ancient times this magical place was the last sign of civilisation for Athenian sailors as they left their home shores. Nowadays it is a popular destination for day trips from Athens and is best experienced at sunset when the sea glows fiery red.

Facilities at Camping Bacchus

Three old sanitary blocks with British style WCs, washbasins with cold water only, two also have controllable showers. Washing machine. Shop. Bar. Restaurant (May-Oct). Communal area for barbecues. Small play area. WiFi.

Directions to Camping Bacchus

From Athens travelling south take the R89 (partly new motorway) towards Markopoulo. Continue south on R89 signed Sounio. At Lavrio campsite signs 4 km. Site is on left.
