Alan Rogers Review
The name of this site may be misleading – it is nowhere near Calais! Au Bois de Calais is located within the Parc Naturel Régional de Millevaches in the Limousin. This is a holiday centre comprising a campsite, chalets, gîtes and mobile homes. The 30 touring pitches are huge (minimum 100 sq.m), and all have water and electricity. On-site amenities include a bar and restaurant (with terrace) and a shop specialising in local produce. Sports amenities include a swimming pool and volleyball. There is also a small fishing pond, with the River Corrèze running along one side of the site.
The Plateau de Millevaches is a vast region of lakes and forests extending towards the Auvergne, with miles of cycle trails and hiking tracks. This is an isolated and relatively uninhabited area but with a great deal to discover. The Mont Bessou, for example, is the highest point, at 1,001 m., with fine views to the Auvergne and Cantal. The Cascades de Gimel are spectacular waterfalls with an overall drop of 143 m.
Sanitary facilities include hot showers. Laundry facilities. Motorhome services. Bar. Restaurant. Shop. Heated swimming pool. Fishing pond. Multisports field. Minigolf. Basketball. Play area. Activities and entertainment programme. WiFi over part of the site (charged). Chalets, mobile homes and gîtes to rent.
Site is north of Tulle. Approaching from Tulle, head east on A89 and leave at exit 21. Then, head north on D1089 and D26 to Corrèze, from here follow signs to the site.Link to campsite location map on google
