Alan Rogers Review of Camping Al Censo
Now that most traffic uses the N2 motorway, the B2 Gotthard - Bellinzona one is used mainly by local vehicles and is, therefore, much quieter. Al Censo is a very pretty campsite with an abundance of flowers and shrubs and backed by a mountain face. Although the site is on a slope and levellers may be needed in places, the 138 pitches, all of which have electricity (6A), are level and amongst mature trees with an overflow section for tents just outside the entrance. Reception and a shop are in the entrance building, which has a small covered terrace where drinks are served. No arrivals between 12.00 and 14.00.
This is a useful site for those wanting a peaceful night away from the motorway, but may prove tempting for a longer stay to those wishing to explore the Ticino. The friendly, English-speaking owners live on site and will help with local attractions.
Facilities at Camping Al Censo
Two small sanitary blocks, one enlarged to a good standard, include warm pre-mixed water dispensed through a single tap, and a baby room. Washing machines and dryers. Self-service shop (limited), drinks served. Swimming pool (18x9 m), sauna and whirlpool (high season). Games room.

Site well signed at northern end of Claro on old St Gotthard-Bellinzona road. From motorway going south, leave at Biasco exit, go into village and then south on B2.
