Alan Rogers Review of Campéole Le Clos du Lac
Le Clos du Lac can be found close to the little mountain village of Saint Apollinaire, on the southern fringe of the immense Ecrins National Park. The site is at an altitude of 1,450 m. and has 68 pitches, including 47 for touring units (most with 7A electricity) and 18 mobile homes. Many of the pitches have fine views of the scenery all around. There is a small lake nearby, for ‘no kill’ fly fishing and also for swimming. This is also a great place to watch the night sky with a special astronomy week in August. The nearby Boscodon forest has been officially acknowledged as the least polluted place in France. Access to the site is via a 2.2 km. steep, single track and therefore not suitable for large units.
On-site amenities include a new wellness centre, a small shop and communal barbecue area. The Lac de Serre Ponçon is popular for many watersports and the site is well located for exploring this wonderful mountain landscape. The popular Montagne aux Marmottes animal park is close at hand, as is the Cathedral of Notre Dame du Réal at Embrun. Le Clos du Lac is a good base for walking and mountain biking and the site’s friendly managers will be pleased to recommend possible itineraries.
Facilities at Campéole Le Clos du Lac
New, modern sanitary block provides preset showers and open style washbasins. Good facilities for babies and accessible facilities. Laundry facilities. Shop (July/Aug). New wellness centre includes jacuzzi, sauna and showers. Play area. Mobile homes for rent. No barbecues on pitches, communal area provided. Free WiFi over part of site.
Directions to Campéole Le Clos du Lac
St Apollinaire is on the north side of Lac de Serre Ponçon. From Gap head west on N94 towards Embrun. At Chorges join the D9 to St Apollinaire from where the site is well signed.
