Alan Rogers Review

Brompton is a quiet family site in a delightful setting on the banks of the river Swale, only two miles from the ancient market town of Richmond (the Lass of Richmond Hill fame). This caravan park is on level meadows of well cut grass with pitches marked by a slab for the jockey wheel. Of the 214 pitches 100 are allocated to seasonal lets and the remainder to touring units. There are 27 fully serviced pitches and 177 with 10/16A electricity. The ones alongside the river are ideal for families with older children as they can easily be supervised in their unending efforts to catch tiddlers and crayfish.

Both fly and coarse fishing are possible on the river. The town of Richmond can be reached by a riverside walk. Its cobbled market square is dominated by the 100 feet high keep of the Norman castle and is home to the Green Howards museum and a Georgian theatre. The site is on the route of the long distance Coast-to-Coast trail.

Both sanitary blocks are heated and have facilities for disabled visitors and babies. Showers have a curtain divider and washbasins are open plan, vanity style. One block has two rooms for families or disabled visitors. Laundry with washing machines, dryers and an iron. Motorhome services. Licensed shop with reception at the entrance with wide range of produce and gas. Fenced play area. Fishing (£3.50/day, permits from reception). Security barrier (key for toilets and barrier £5 deposit) and late arrivals area with hook-up. Only two dogs per pitch are accepted.
