Alan Rogers Review
Autocamping Orlice, situated on the edge of town near the swimming pool, has a river running by and is in a quiet location (except when children play in the weir!) with a pleasant appearance. Surrounded by tall trees, the grass pitches are of generous size although not marked or numbered, on each side of a concrete grid road which runs the length of this rectangular site. There is room for 70 units, half having electric points (16A) and with shade in parts. There is a hotel alongside the camp. There is a friendly welcome.
A good site for those seeking rest and quiet and not needing organised activities. The friendly manageress speaks good English and will be pleased to advise on local attractions. Kostelec does have an ancient castle and a large Ferodo factory, although not a lot else to commend it, but is a good centre from which to explore the interesting town of Hradec Kralove, East Bohemia, the Orlicke Hory and other high districts near the Polish border.
Facilities
The central sanitary block includes hot water in washbasins, sinks and good showers (on payment) – it is of a good standard for the Czech Republic. Unlike most Czech sites, showers have dividers, space for dressing, a door that locks, and even a chair! Limited food supplies are available in a bar/lounge during July/Aug. Café/bar (15/5-30/9). Bicycle hire. WiFi.
