Located at over 1,000m altitude, Alp Safari offers a mix of glamping safari tents (12 in total) and around 30 camping pitches for tents, vans, and campervans. Spanning 26,000 square metres, the site is arranged over southwest-facing terraces, providing breathtaking alpine sunsets over the Rhône Valley and ensuring privacy between pitches.

Alp Safari is a 20-minute drive from Sion, with public transport links from Sion railway station directly to the site. The nearby village of Nax, just above the campsite, has a bakery, supermarket, eateries, and an artisan brewery.

The site promotes biodiversity, encouraging natural vegetation growth with more wildflowers, long grass, and wildlife. It sits just below the alpine forests, surrounded by birch, ash, and wild cherry trees that provide shade to most pitches. Expect birdsong in the morning and the sound of cowbells in the summer months. In quieter seasons, deer and foxes may even make an appearance. The location is excellent for stargazing year-round. At the heart of the site lies a shaded garden featuring an open-air swimming pool, comfortable seating, hammocks, climbing frames, and a nest swing. A vintage foosball table is tucked beneath the trees.

The outdoor swimming pool is open during the summer months, offering spectacular views over the valley. It is not heated, with temperatures varying between 15°C and 24°C, minimising chlorine use. A gated entrance ensures children cannot access the pool area unaccompanied. In low season, the pool may be open to the public.

Alp Safari has a small on-site restaurant with outdoor seating across two terraces overlooking the pool and indoor seating with a wood burner for cooler days. Takeaway options are available.

Facilities at Alp Safari

Three wash blocks with hot showers, WCs, and two washing machines. No baby bath available, but large outdoor basins can be provided. Two chemical WC points for campervans. Small fridges, fondue, and raclette equipment available for rent. Free WiFi in the restaurant and lounge area. Wood fires permitted (depending on local regulations); firewood and firelighters available for purchase. Recycling bins for PET, glass, aluminum, and composting (vegetable scraps only). General waste must be disposed of using a Valaisan ‘sac taxé’. Dogs are welcome at Alp Safari at no extra charge. They must be kept on a lead within the site and are not permitted in the swimming pool and garden area. Dog waste bins are available.
