Alan Rogers Review of Abbey Farm Caravan and Camping

Abbey Farm in Rhuddlan is a family-run working farm that offers a blend of historical charm and modern rural luxury. The site is uniquely situated on the grounds of a 13th-century Dominican Friary, and the surrounding fields are a Scheduled Ancient Monument. You can still see original medieval stone carvings and artifacts built into the farm buildings today. There are 52 spacious grass pitches, all equipped with 16-amp electric hook-up which is sustainably powered by solar energy. . It is a dog-friendly area (up to two dogs per pitch), but they must be kept on leads due to the active livestock and machinery.

Despite its peaceful, "back-to-nature" vibe, the farm provides high-quality amenities.  A major highlight, selling home-reared beef, lamb, and pork, plus fresh free-range eggs and local Welsh produce (jams, cakes, and bread). There are three spotlessly clean toilet/shower blocks and a utility area featuring sinks, a communal fridge, and a freezer.  As a working farm, you’ll likely meet the friendly resident sheepdogs (Buster, Jess, and Abbey) and can watch cows and sheep grazing right from your pitch.

N.B. There is no reception on-site, on arrival please contact the number provided on your booking confirmation. Earliest arrival time 12noon.

Abbey Farm offers a "best of both worlds" location—secluded and rural, yet incredibly accessible. The Village Rhuddlan is just an 8-10 minute walk away. It features several highly-rated pubs (The Kings Head, The Castle Inn), a Spar for essentials, and local boutiques. Rhuddlan Castle (built by Edward I) is a must-visit and is within walking distance. The coastal towns of Rhyl and Prestatyn are only a 10-minute drive away Adventure: For those wanting more activity, Zip World and the hiking trails of Eryri (Snowdonia) are roughly an hour's drive away.
