Alan Rogers Review of Camping Blaarmeersen
Blaarmeersen is a comfortable, well managed municipal site in the west of the city. It adjoins a sports complex and a fair sized lake which together provide facilities for a variety of watersports, tennis, squash, minigolf, football, athletics track, roller skating and a playground. There are 337 pitches for touring units, these are flat, grassy, individually separated by hedges and mostly arranged in circular groups, all with electricity. There are 43 hardstandings for motorhomes, plus a separate area for tents with barbecue facilities. There is noise from the nearby city ring road. There is a good network of paths and cycle routes around the city.
In Gent, tour the markets, free of charge, with the Town Crier (May-Sept, Sunday 10.30). Central Gent is 3 km. A bus stop is 150 m. and buses run every 15 minutes to the city centre. Visitors with large motorhomes should telephone in advance to ensure that a suitable pitch is available.
Facilities at Camping Blaarmeersen
Five sanitary units of a decent standard vary in size. Accessible shower and W'Cs. Laundry. Motorhome services. Shop, café/bar (both daily). Takeaway. Sports facilities. Playground. Fishing. Bicycle hire. Lake swimming. Communal barbecue. WiFi.
