Sites et Paysages Camping Au Clos de la Chaume is a pleasant site within walking distance of the town, on level ground with a small stream. The friendly family owners, who are British and French, live on-site and do their best to ensure campers have an enjoyable, relaxing stay. The grassy pitches are level, of varying sizes and with varying amounts of sun and shade. All touring pitches have electricity hook-ups (6/10A), and some are divided by shrubs and trees.
Camping Ribamar lies to the north of Alcossebre, tucked away within the National Park of the Sierra de Irta, a magnificent landscape of intense colours. Alcossebre is a delightful resort town which has retained its Spanish identity, unlike some of the larger resorts to the north, and offers three Blue Flag beaches and a wealth of cafés and restaurants. Although a little over two hours drive south of Barcelona, this is a very underpopulated region with excellent long-distance footpaths and cycle paths.
Huttopia Cordes-sur-Ciel is five kilometres from Cordes-sur-Ciel, a bastide village created by the Counts of Toulouse in the 13th century. It rises high on a hill (sur-ciel, meaning high in the sky) and is well preserved. Perched on a hill overlooking the surrounding countryside, with a unique view of the village of Cordes-sur-Ciel, the site is fairly level and terraced where necessary to provide 28 grass touring pitches, 18 with 10A electricity. The pitches are small and have little shade, but do have some good views. There are 30 chalets to rent. Previously known as Le Garissou.
Domaine de l’Oiseliere is ideal for camping and campervan holidays and jsut 35 minutes from the Grand Parc du Puy du Fou. This is a small site with just 45 large pitches to choose from, 30 of which are for touring and are 200m2 and separated by hedges. There is a choice of full sun or shaded pitches with cover provided by oak trees. For families travelling in a caravan, large plots enable you to extend your awning easily. The site is a pedestrian zone; vehicles can drive to and from the pitches upon arrival and before departure. Otherwise, campers must use the adjacent parking area.
Situated on the southwest edge of Dartmoor, this holiday park has been developed on the grounds of the old Langstone Manor house. The touring pitches are tucked into various garden areas with mature trees and flowering shrubs or in the walled garden area with views over the moor. There are 40 level grass pitches, which vary in size (35 with 16A electricity). A popular camping area has been terraced with open views over farmland and the moor.
This cliff top site is for the more adventurous – one has to go out of one’s way to find it. Of the 170 pitches, 72 are for touring; 30 have 10A electricity connections, all are level, clearly marked and separated by bushes. The remaining pitches are occupied by permanent, privately-owned accommodation. The English speaking owners, who purchased this ex-municipal site back in 2002, are really bringing it up to date and the new area is well planned. The owner, along with many sea fishing campers and their boats, are often to be found at sea, catching crabs and other delicacies.
Parc de la Bastide is in the heart of the Alpilles in Provence, ideally placed for exploring nature by foot and bike and providing a comfortable and homely place to spend some time exploring this region. The site has 70 pitches for tents, campers and motorhomes. They are large, on level ground bordered by bamboo with some shade and electricity available (6-10A). There is an outdoor pool onsite and fresh bread, water and beer are available at reception which is located at the back of the site.
Located at over 1,000m altitude, Alp Safari offers a mix of glamping safari tents (12 in total) and around 30 camping pitches for tents, vans, and campervans. Spanning 26,000 square metres, the site is arranged over southwest-facing terraces, providing breathtaking alpine sunsets over the Rhône Valley and ensuring privacy between pitches.
A great deal of care and attention to detail has gone into developing this compact adult only site and its superb facilities. Of its 45 pitches, only 12 are available for camping and advance booking is essential. The site is beautifully landscaped with flora and fauna and the facilities are sympathetically incorporated into a former textile factory. It has a very attractive solar heated pool and sunbathing terrace, with bar and snack service and on-site shop. The river is directly accessed from the site with a delightful bridge walkway crossing a waterfall and leading to a sports and picnic area.
Camping Le Transat is a family-oriented site two kilometres outside of Saint-Georges-d'Oléron, a mere five-minute drive from the nearest sandy beach. As the beach is so close to the campsite, you will likely spend a few days on Plage de Foulerot soaking up the sun and swimming in the sea. It is located on Ile de Oléron, one of western France's prettiest islands, where you can hire a bike at reception and pedal through the dunes. The site has 73 pitches of which 35 are for touring units and have a 10-amp hook-up point. Mobile homes, chalets, and lodge tents occupy the rest.
Camping Ker Eden is a family-friendly campsite situated directly on the waterfront in Larmor-Baden, France. It boasts a peaceful and green location within the Gulf of Morbihan Natural Park, offering campers direct access to a sandy beach with a footpath leading right to it with No roads to cross. This site is perfect for families looking for a holiday where they can enjoy plenty of beach activities. On-site, 110 touring pitches including 77 camping pitches with electrical hook-up points and 33 mobile homes or tent lodge. Surrounded by mature trees, giving plenty of shade during the summer. The eco-responsible and nature-oriented campsite makes efforts in terms of quality of services, with a low impact on the environment, thanks to the constant attention and concrete actions aimed at reducing water and energy consumption.
This family friendly site is ideally situated within easy walking distance of the delightful town of Vaison and its excellent tourist office, shops, restaurants and museums. There are 66 level pitches and these all have electricity (5/10A), water and drainage and are of a good size (100 sq.m). Most pitches are part grass and part gravel and are generally separated by hedges and mature trees, giving partial shade. The site also has 16 mobile homes for rent. This is a quiet site with no organised entertainment, perfect for a relaxing holiday and a good base for exploring the surrounding Provençal countryside.
This former municipal site has been refurbished to a high standard and is operated by the owner/manager. There are 60 touring pitches, all with 10A electricity and individual water tap; four have hardstanding for motorhomes. Since our last visit, new trees, bushes and flower beds have been planted, which are now coming into maturity. The site remains smart and very well-tended. The site is in the pleasant countryside above a lake and next to a rapidly developing Base de Loisirs with watersports provision and a bar/restaurant.
Camping Taimì is located in Marina di Massa, Italy, offering a comfortable and eco-conscious holiday experience just 500 meters from the beach. On site you will find 83 large and shaded touring pitches (around 90m2) with 6Amp electric hook up points available. The site is well-equipped with a range of facilities designed for comfort and enjoyment. A highlight is the outdoor swimming pool featuring a wooden deck surround instead of tiles, blending harmoniously with the environment. The pool is accessible with a hoist and wheelchair access. A modern restaurant can also be found on site and provides various snacks and drinks throughout the day including breakfast with fresh croissants and cakes, and evening aperitifs. Takeaway options are also available via a dedicated app.
Huntly Castle Caravan Park was opened in ’95 and its hardworking owners, the Ballantynes, are justly proud of their neat, well landscaped 15 acre site. The 10 level grass and 50 hardstanding touring pitches are separated and numbered, with everyone shown to their pitch. Arranged in three bays with banks of heathers and flowering shrubs separating them, most pitches have 16 amp electrical hook-ups and 15 are fully serviced with water and waste water. Two bays have central play areas and all three have easy access to a toilet block, as has the camping area.The site is a member of the Caravan and Motorhome Club Affiliated Site Scheme but visitors who are not members of the club are also very welcome.
Set on the Dordogne river in the Lot department, this site has direct access to the river (not fenced and possibly at risk of flooding in bad weather). Canoes can be hired from the site and anglers will also enjoy being able to fish on their doorstep. This campsite is half a mile from Carennac, which some people say is one of the most beautiful villages in France. There are 111 pitches of which 70 are for touring units and the remaining 41 for mobile homes (27 to rent). The pitches are level, shaded and have electricity (6A). Larger units are accepted but should phone in advance to ensure availability.
Camping Midden Drenthe is a pretty site located in woodland and fields in the heart of the rural province of Drenthe. The site has 60 spacious and grassy pitches, all with electricity, arranged on large grassy fields. Some pitches offer shade and most are overlooked by tall trees. The site is ideal for young children, with a small farm (home to rabbits, chickens and goats), a good, spacious play area and a family room with games. Just five minutes from the site is Lake Loomeer, a natural lake with a sandy beach, perfect for swimming.
There is a heart-of-the-country feel about this ‘on the farm’ site, yet the city of Cork is only an 8 km. drive. What makes this friendly, family-run park so appealing is the welcome you receive on arrival and the friendliness throughout your stay from owner Con. Its secluded location and neat, spacious pitches add to its appeal. The terrain on the three-acre park is elevated and gently sloping, commanding views towards the world-famous Blarney Castle and the surrounding mountainous countryside.
A short distance away from the busy coast, Puerta del Sol could suit not only families with teenage children to entertain, but also those seeking a more peaceful and relaxing holiday. Of the 216 pitches, 70 are available for touring units, each with electricity, water and drainage; they are level with dividing hedges and there is plenty of shade from mature trees. The remaining pitches are occupied by mobile homes and wooden chalets, 66 available to rent. A pleasant bar with snack bar, takeaway and small shop overlooks the outdoor pool and terrace and the adjoining indoor pool which has been recently added.
This rural site is beautifully situated in the hilly surroundings of the Lot region, only 20 km. from the Dordogne river. The site offers 100 well maintained pitches in an attractive, wooded area. There are also 16 chalets, 31 mobile homes and two canvas bungalows to rent. The 47 touring pitches are numbered and all have 10A electricity connections and water points within easy reach. There is a good activity programme in July and August. In addition, older children will enjoy the challenge of accrobranche, while the younger ones will be enchanted by the friendly animals in the mini farm.
