Immerse yourself in the history of Ötzi the Iceman at the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology. This fascinating museum houses the well-preserved body of Ötzi, a man who lived 5,300 years ago and was discovered frozen in the Alps. The museum also has exhibits on the archaeology and history of South Tyrol.

Explore Brunico
Explore the charming medieval town of Brunico. Brunico is a beautiful town located in the Puster Valley. The town is dominated by Brunico Castle, a 13th-century castle that is now a museum. You can also wander the town's narrow streets, lined with shops and cafes, or take a walk along the town walls for stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

Get out in nature
Hike to the stunning Lago di Braies - a must-see for any visitor to South Tyrol. Lush forests and towering mountains surround the lake, and it's a popular spot for hiking, biking, and swimming in the summer months. You might still see some snow on the mountaintops in April, making for a dramatic backdrop.

Camping Due Laghi
Due Laghi has a modern entrance and reception with very helpful and welcoming staff. This attractive site with flowers and trees is close to the main road but it is quiet, with mountain views and only five minutes walk from Lake Levico, where it has a small private beach. There are over 400 level touring pitches on grass, all with 3/10A electricity. The site has a good pool and excellent facilities for adults and children. A recent camperstop with services, Internet access and restaurant is open all year. The site is said to become full from mid July to mid August, but there is always a chance of finding space. English is spoken and a comprehensive descriptive guide to the attractions of the region is provided.
Caravan Park Sexten
Caravan Park Sexten is 1,520 metres above sea level and has 268 pitches, some very large and all with electricity (16A), TV connections and water and drainage in summer and winter (underground heating stops pipes freezing). Some pitches are in the open to catch the sun, others are tucked in forest clearings by the river. They are mostly gravelled to provide an ideal all year surface. It is the facilities that make this a truly remarkable site; no expense or effort has been spared to create a luxurious environment that matches that of any top class hotel.
Camping Seiser Alm
What an amazing experience awaits you at Seiser Alm! Elisabeth and Erhard Mahlknecht have created a superb site in the magnificent Südtirol region of the Dolomite mountains. Towering peaks provide a wonderful backdrop when you dine in the charming, traditionally styled restaurant on the upper terrace. Here you will also find the bar, shop and reception. The 150 touring pitches have 16A electricity, gas, water, drainage, satellite connection and WiFi. Guests were delighted with the site when we visited, many coming to walk or cycle, some just to enjoy the surroundings. There are countless things to see and do here, including a full entertainment programme and a brilliant new pool.

Craving some craic in Ireland? April in Galway is the sweet spot – the tourist crowds haven't quite arrived, but the city's buzzing with life. Live music spills out of pubs, and the streets are alive with buskers and friendly faces. Explore the cobbled lanes past colourful shops, stopping for a pint of Guinness and some hearty stew in a traditional pub. Walk along the Salthill Prom for epic Atlantic views.

Explore Galway City Museum
This museum tells the story of Galway City and County from prehistoric times to the present day. You'll learn about the city's rich history and culture, from its Viking and Norman roots to its role in the Gaelic revival.

Take a hike in Connemara National Park
This stunning natural area is located just outside of Galway City. The park is home to mountains, bogs, lakes, forests, and plenty of hiking trails. In April, you might even be lucky enough to see some wildflowers blooming.

If you're looking for a more substantial meal, The Quay Street Kitchen is a great option. This seafood restaurant offers a variety of fresh, locally caught fish and shellfish dishes. They also have a good selection of vegetarian and vegan options.

Fine Dining: Aniar
For a truly special dining experience, Aniar is the place to go. This Michelin-starred restaurant offers a tasting menu of modern Irish cuisine made with the freshest seasonal ingredients. The service is impeccable, and the atmosphere is elegant and intimate.

Keel Sandybanks Caravan and Camping Park
This park offers a taste of island life and the opportunity to relax in dramatic, scenic surroundings. Achill, Ireland’s largest island, is 24 km. long and 19 km. wide and is connected to the mainland by a bridge. The wide-open site is situated beside the Blue Flag beach near Keel Village. Although static holiday mobile homes are on this site, the 84 touring pitches are kept separate. There are 50 pitches with hardstanding, and some are located at the perimeter fence overlooking the beach. Although sand-based, the ground is firm and level. Roads are tarmac, and there is direct access to the beach, which lifeguards supervise.
Salthill Caravan Park
Salthill Caravan Park was opened in 1960 and has been run by the O'Malley family ever since. The park comprises five mobile homes and a three-acre campsite near the water's edge. The park has superb views over Galway Bay and has access to a shingle beach, just 100 m. distant. The 49 touring pitches are grassy and open, all with 10A electrical connections and 35 hardstanding. Salthill Caravan and Camping Park has several facilities, including a communal camper kitchen Complete with cookers, microwave, coffee tea facilities, sinks with hot & cold running water, and table and chairs for dining, which is beside the reception available 24 hours for all guests to use. There is also a children's playground and games room for the younger campers.

This renowned museum houses a collection of old, modern and contemporary art, including works by Gilbert & George, Ai Weiwei, and Marlene Dumas. The museum also has a beautiful sculpture garden, perfect for a stroll on a sunny spring day.

Explore the labyrinthine caves of Saint Peter's Cave

Located beneath the city centre, these caves have been used for centuries as hiding places during wars, storage facilities, and even mushroom farms! Take a guided tour to learn about the caves' history and see the fascinating geological formations.

The Meuse River winds its way through the heart of Maastricht, offering a beautiful perspective of the city. Several companies offer boat tours, a great way to see the city's historic landmarks and learn about its history. The weather is starting to warm up in April, making it a perfect time to enjoy a relaxing boat trip on the river.

This Michelin-starred restaurant offers an innovative and creative tasting menu that will tantalise your taste buds. The service is impeccable, and the atmosphere is elegant and sophisticated. Be sure to make reservations in advance, as this popular spot tends to book up quickly.

Camping De Heldense Bossen
Camping de Heldense Bossen is a woodland site of around 30 hectares. There are 400 spacious touring pitches here. These are grassy, and all have 6/10A electricity. A selection of standard, comfort (TV connections) and super comfort pitches are available. The latter include water and drainage. A subtropical swimming pool is ideal for relaxing and having fun. It has a massive 36 m. water slide, rapids, bubble beds, and a separate infant and toddler pool. There is also a good Caribbean-themed café. Outside, is a heated 25 m. pool with a nursery and a children’s pool, as well as a broad sun terrace with a lawn and play area.
De Witte Vennen
Parc de Witte Vennen is a family site with around 150 unusually spacious pitches for either touring units or seasonal use. Many of the pitching areas have their own playground or sports field so parents can watch the children while they go about. The quieter fields, although not on the waterside, are perfect for nature lovers and senior citizens.
Camping De Bosrand
This delightful family-run campsite is in the south of Holland and has been operating since 1956. It’s perfectly situated for exploring not only Holland but Belgium and Germany, too, due to its enviable location just 30 minutes from both. During the main camping season, they offer touring pitches, chalets and glamping tents dotted amongst beautiful fruit trees, and open year-round are the chalets. Their lovely restaurant, which has recently changed managers, serves local specialities and offers a good selection of beer, as well as amazing waffles. It’s a perfect site for active people who come here to hike and bike, as it’s next to a forest and has stunning views due to the surrounding hilly terrain. Older couples and families with young children particularly enjoy Camping De Bosrand, and although it doesn’t have its own swimming pool, there is a tropical pool and spa in the nearby city. There is also an American military cemetery and a golf course nearby.

Skip the tourist hordes and head to Slovenia! Ptuj and Maribor awake from their winter slumber, with sunshine chasing away the chill. Explore Ptuj's charming old town, a medieval gem with an incredible castle to conquer. In Maribor, sip on some of Slovenia's best wines (perfect for those spring evenings!) or climb up Piramida Hill for breathtaking city views.

Explore the Ptuj Regional Museum
This fascinating museum, housed within Ptuj Castle, showcases the region's rich history, with exhibits from Roman times to the Middle Ages. You'll also find a collection of traditional Slovenian costumes, including the elaborate Kurent masks worn during Ptuj's famous Kurentovanje carnival celebrations.

Wander the streets of Ptuj's Old Town

This charming area is filled with colourful buildings, narrow alleyways, and historical landmarks. Be sure to check out the Town Hall, the Dominican Monastery, and the Orpheus Monument, a statue dedicated to the Greek god of music.

Take a walking tour of Maribor's Old Town

Maribor's Old Town is a charming maze of narrow streets lined with Renaissance and Baroque buildings. Be sure to see the Old Vine House, home to the world's oldest grapevine that is still producing grapes. The vine is said to be over 400 years old! You can also visit Maribor Castle, which offers stunning views of the city.

Take a walk or bike ride along the Drava River

The Drava River flows through the heart of Ptuj, with several scenic paths along its banks. You can also rent a kayak or canoe and explore the river from a different perspective. In April, the weather is starting to warm up, making it a perfect time to enjoy the outdoors.

Hike up Piramida Hill

Piramida Hill is a small hill just outside Maribor that offers panoramic views of the city and the surrounding countryside. The hike to the top is relatively easy and takes about 30 minutes. There's a small cafe at the top where you can relax and enjoy the view.

Forest Camping Mozirje
Forest Camping Mozirje is a charming small campsite located by the River Savinja within a dense forest, giving plenty of shade during the summer months. You will find 110 touring pitches available, all with electric hook-up points and free WiFi. Each pitch has views of the Slovenian Alps, Golte Mountain and the surrounding countryside. This site focuses on peace and tranquillity and has no music policy.
Camping Bled
Camping Bled is situated on the western tip of Lake Bled and is an excellent example of how a site should be run. Check-in is quick and efficient, and English is spoken. The site is large but well-spaced, with 244 touring pitches, all with electricity, 40 fully serviced pitches, and six with private sanitary facilities; most pitches benefit from shade. Pitches at the front are used mainly for overnighters. There are lovely views across the lake toward its famous island. This site is well-organised, and the facilities are modern and spotless.
Kamp Koren
Kamp Koren is situated in the picturesque valley by the Soča River, 500 m from the historical town Kobarid. A unique campsite and sole holder of the eco certificates: EU Ecolabel and Ecocamping. Its policy is to keep the environment clean and have minimum effect on nature. Slovenia’s first ecological site is in a quiet location above the emerald-coloured river, within easy walking distance of Kobarid.
