Alan Rogers Review of Skegness Sands Touring Site
Skegness Sands is a very well organised touring site, is part of a much larger holiday home park, but has its own entrance. It is a modern, well appointed site adjacent to the promenade and beach. There are 75 pitches (some seasonal), all level and with 16 amp electricity; 45 are grass and 37 on gravel hardstandings, 4 of which are fully serviced. Site lighting is good throughout and there are regular security patrols. The gate to the promenade is kept locked at all times, users getting a key. The site is a member of the Caravan and Motorhome Club Affiliated Site Scheme but visitors who are not members of the club are also very welcome.
The site has all the makings of a classic bucket-and-spade summer holiday. The caravan park boasts private access to the popular promenade plus easy access to both the beach and centre of Skegness (fondly called 'Skeggy' by the locals). Only 2 miles away, the town offers a wide range of restaurants, pubs and shopping treats. The site facilities include a pool, children's play area and toilet block fully refurbished in 2014. If you want to stock up on conveniences without any fuss, the site puts you within easy walking distance from a local supermarket. A traditionally popular seaside resort in the summer, Skegness offers loads of fun outdoor activities such as golf courses, bowling greens, boating lakes, amusement parks and ornamental gardens. The famous Illuminations are another attraction not to be missed. Local attractions include Funcoast World, Fantasy Island, Hardy’s Animal Farm, a seal sanctuary and Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve.
