Situated on the west coast of the island of Ile d’Oléron, les Gros Joncs is owned and run by the Cavel family who work hard to keep the site up to date and of high quality. There are 50 or so touring pitches of a good size (some extra large) with tall pine trees providing a choice between full sun and varying degrees of shade. All have water and 10A electricity to hand. The main building not only houses a light and airy reception, but also a modern, beautifully presented bar and restaurant, a fully stocked and competitively priced shop, an attractive indoor swimming pool and a magnificent spa.

The indoor pool, with water jets and jacuzzi, has glass sides which in good weather are opened out onto an outdoor pool area where there are also water slides, a paddling area and plenty of sunbathing terraces. Both pools are heated. The spa offers hydrotherapy and beauty treatments, sauna and a comprehensive fitness room. Much attention has been given to accessible facilities , including chalets where space and equipment are specially adapted. All the amenities are of a standard unusual on a campsite.

Directions to Camping les Gros Joncs

Cross the viaduct onto the Ile d’Oléron. Take D734 (St Georges-d’Oléron). At traffic lights in Chéray turn left. Follow signs for camping and Les Sable Vignier. After prominent speed bumps turn right and follow site signs to les Gros Joncs.
