Le Grand Large is a well-established, quality family site with direct access to a long sandy beach within 20 km. drive of Cherbourg. It is a neat site with about 120 touring pitches divided and separated by hedging, giving an orderly, well-laid-out, attractive appearance. Almost all have electricity (10A Europlug), water and drainage. There are 50 mobile homes to rent in three separate areas.

The reception area is at the entrance (with a security barrier), and the forecourt is decorated with flower beds. To the rear of the site and laid out in the sandhills is an excellent play area. Not surprisingly, the sandy beach is a big attraction. The length of units is restricted to eight metres to prevent any problems accessing pitches.

Roads around the site are tarmac and many of the delightful plants and shrubs that you see bordering these carry name tags in four languages. The pleasant views from the site stretch across the bay to the tip of the Cherbourg peninsula. Every effort is made at le Grand Large to attract and cater for families with young children, so noisy entertainment is not an option.

Facilities at Camping le Grand Large

Two well-maintained toilet blocks. The main one is modern and includes washbasins in cubicles and some family rooms. Some showers and WCs have access to the outside of the building. Accessible facilities, Baby bathroom. Laundry area. Motorhome services. Shop for basics. Bar (all season). Snacks (July/Aug). Heated swimming and paddling pools (indoor all season, outdoor - seasonal). Play area. Football, Tennis. Pool table, Boules. Fishing. TV room. Some entertainment (July/Aug). WiFi over site (charged).

Directions to Camping le Grand Large

From Cherbourg port take N13 south for 2 km. Branch right on D650 (previously D904) signed Carteret. Continue for 18 km. to Les Pieux. Take D4 in town and turn left just after ‘Super U’ supermarket. Follow site signs via D117/517.
