This attractive campsite in a secluded valley is accessed through a narrow arched gateway. It was created in 1995 by carefully conserving original forge buildings and the surrounding land. The River Rongeant meanders through the site, widening into a small fishing lake. A picturesque bridge links the site's upper part to the reception area.

Grass pitches, 160 for touring units, are of varying sizes on terraces, amongst trees or in more open spaces. Electricity (10A, Europlug) and water are available, and 120 pitches are fully serviced. Eight premium pitches have a cabin with a shower, toilet, sink, and refrigerator. There are also 52 mobile homes (some with jacuzzi) and cottages refurbished. Larger units should take care when manoeuvring.

The department of Haute-Marne is situated between the better-known areas of Champagne and the Vosges. It is a sleepy land of rolling hills, forests and farmland. In the heart of this lies Thonnance-les-Moulins, a small village 12 km. east of Joinville and the north-south N67 main road between Saint Dizier and Chaumont. There is much of interest in the area – Joan d’Arc and General de Gaulle lived near and it is not too far to the Champagne vineyards and cellars at Colombey-le-Séc. It is also possible to visit the largest man-made lake in Europe at Giffaumont-Champaubert. A visit to Grand (20 km) with its Gallo-Roman amphitheatre and mosaic is a must.

Two sanitary blocks provide all facilities, including those for children and accessible facilities. Family shower room. Additional facilities at reception and pool complex. Laundry facilities. Shop, restaurant and bar with terrace (view over the lake). A heated indoor pool and one for children (Seasonal). Play areas. Bicycle hire. Fishing (charged). Games room. Organised games for children and entertainment (July/Aug). WiFi (free of charge).

Directions to Camping la Forge de Sainte Marie

Site is 12 km. southeast of Joinville between Poissons and Germay on road D427. The site entrance and access roads may be a little tight for large units.
