Alan Rogers Review of Camping la Belle Etoile
La Belle Etoile can be found at Aguessac on the banks of the River Tarn just 6 km. north of Millau. The campsite covers five acres and welcomes tents, touring caravans and motorhomes. There are 75 pitches (69 for touring), most of which are level, with shade and electricity. Bungalow-style tents and fully equipped mobile homes are available for hire. The campsite is pleasantly laid out in a leafy, wooded setting with the river flowing serenely by. Children are catered for with a bouncy castle and trampoline. A pleasant bar/terrace area could be lively.
The area is well known for the Millau viaduct, the tallest bridge in the world, which was designed by British architect Norman Foster and opened to traffic in 2004. The limestone rocks in the area have been eroded over thousands of years and created the fantastic gorges of the Tarn and Jonte, along with amazing rock formations and caves. Some larger caves are used for cheese storage by well known producers.
Facilities at Camping la Belle Etoile
Two sanitary blocks (one opens in high season). Accessible sanitary facilities. Motorhome services. Bar, snack bar/terrace (July/Aug, possibly longer depending on number of visitors). Play area with bouncy castle (high season). Volleyball. Pétanque. Accommodation for hire. WiFi on part of site.
Directions to Camping la Belle Etoile
From the north and travelling southbound on A75, exit at junction 44.1 towards Aguessac. Pass through centre of village and 100 m. after the chemist’s shop turn left to site.
