This former municipal site is a recent addition to the Huttopia group of campsites and is located close to the pretty village of Vallouise, deep in the Hautes-Alpes. The site extends over 6.5 hectares and enjoys some magnificent views of the surrounding mountain scenery. There are 134 touring pitches here, bordered by two glacier streams. Most have 10A electricity. Several fully equipped safari-style tents and chalets are available to rent.

The site lies at the foot of the vast Ecrins National Park and is an ideal base for many adventure sports, including paragliding, rock climbing and mountain biking. The GR54 long-distance footpath passes through Vallouise, and there are many other excellent paths close at hand, including routes to the hamlet of Puy Aillaud or to Le Monetier, passing the Lac de l’Eychauda.

Vallouise is a very pleasant mountain village lying at the spur of two valleys. The village has some good restaurants and a beautiful 15th-century church, as well as the Maison du Parc des Ecrins and a useful tourist office.

Two excellent sanitary blocks (one heated) are well maintained and include facilities for babies and accessible facilities. Shop. Snack bar (July/Aug). Heated outdoor swimming pool. Play area. Boules. Tennis. Volleyball. TV room. Activity programme (July/Aug). Fully equipped tents and chalets to rent. WiFi over part of site (free).

Directions to Camping Huttopia Vallouise

From Briançon, head south on N94 as far as Prelle, then join D4 to Les Vigneaux. Just past village turn right on D994 to Vallouise. The site is well signed.
