Close to Bad Zwesten, a pleasant little spa town in wooded countryside in the heart of Germany, Waldcamping is bordered by a river, fields and woods. Of the 124 pitches, 60 are available for touring units (100 sq.m), with 10A electricity connections provided; the remainder are occupied by permanent units, including a number of basic wooden huts for hire by hikers and cyclists. The nearby town has a few shops, a café and a couple of restaurants, whilst an easy drive away is the city of Kassel whose many palaces and parks include the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Swimming and fishing are possible on site in the River Schwalm and opportunities for walking and cycling in the immediate area are numerous, with 70 km. of marked cycle paths available and several attractive lakes including the Borkener See. The region has several spa towns, including Bad Arolsen where there are gardens, a dance hall and a wider choice of shops, bars and restaurants. A pleasant drive northwest will take you to the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park which can be explored on foot or by bike; electric bikes can be hired from Arolsen and there are many battery-charging stations throughout the area.
