This city site is located at the foot of a towering needle of volcanic rock with a church on top which is spectacularly lit at night. This is one of three major attractions in Le Puy-en-Velay, a World Heritage site. The excellent location, in a wooded area within walking distance of the medieval city, is protected by a good security barrier and the manager, who speaks good English, lives on site. Tarmac roads lead to 72 marked, grassy pitches with 6A electricity and a designated area for tents. Access is good and as the site may be popular in high season, early arrival is advised.

This very popular urban site is within ten minutes walk of the medieval town with its very interesting old centre and is well worth the trip. It is close to the river and screened from the city noise by a good covering of mature trees. The Office de Tourisme is in Place du Clauzel, next to the Mairie.

Le Puy-en-Velay is a centre for lace making and has several shops demonstrating how it is made and a museum dedicated to the craft. The city also has a modern face to it and has the usual range of shops and facilities you would expect.

Directions to Terracamps Camping du Puy-en-Velay

Site is northwest of town, close to where N102 crosses River Borne and Rocher St Michel d’Aiguilhe (a church on a rocky pinnacle). Site is well signed from around town.
