On the banks of the Loire and the outskirts of Montlouis-sur-Loire, les Peupliers is located in an area well known for its culture, landscape, châteaux, gastronomy and wines. The 73 level, mainly grassy touring pitches (100-120 sq.m) are well marked by hedges, shaded by oak trees and have water and electricity (10A Europlug). There are 23 motorhome pitches (100 sq.m) and 11 mobile homes to rent. The site is especially popular with cyclists, being on the 800 km. Loire à Vélo network, and is a good base from which to explore the attractions of the area. There is no swimming pool, but the public pool is 50 m. and can be booked by the site if there is sufficient demand..
The Loire is on the UNESCO World Heritage List as a living cultural landscape and visitors can explore the area using walking and cycle trails from the site as well as by road. The Loire à Vélo follows the banks of the river taking in river beaches, immense sand banks and an abundance of animal and plant life. Nearby, the river passes through historic villages and towns and along the famous ‘valley of kings’ of Blois, Chaumont and Amboise (18 km), whose magnificent châteaux dominate the area.
