Smithy Park is set in four acres of landscaped grounds bordered by the River Severn and the Shropshire Union Canal in the tranquil rolling countryside of central Wales. It has 60 privately owned caravan holiday homes, but beyond these is a separate touring area with the benefit of being closest to the river with the best views and a small picnic and seating area on the bank. This area has 26 fully serviced hardstanding pitches (16A electricity, water, wastewater and satellite TV hook-ups). A timber chalet provides all the sanitary facilities and is located in one corner of the touring area.

This is a well-run site under the same ownership as Westbrook Park (UK4390), with a resident manager on site. The village has two local pubs, a shop and Post Office, and a bus service – all within easy walking distance. American RVs are accepted with prior notice. Kite flying and cycling in the park are not permitted.

Facilities at Smithy Park

The heated, timber-clad chalet building provides two good-sized showers, washbasins in cubicles, and a family room doubling as accessible facilities (there is a step up to the building). Additional toilet and washbasin in a new building by reception. The utility room houses a laundry with a washing machine, dryer, and dishwashing sink. Fishing in the River Severn. Fenced playground. Gas stocked. WiFi.

Directions to Smithy Park

Site is 3 miles north of Newtown in the village of Abermule. Turn off the A483 into village, and turn down the lane beside the Waterloo Arms, opposite the village shop and Post Office. Site is at end of lane.
