Alan Rogers Review of Mora Parkens Camping
Mora, at the northern end of Lake Silijan, is surrounded by small localities all steeped in history and culture. On the island of Sollerön, south of Mora, is evidence of a large Viking burial ground. Traditional handicrafts are still practised in the region. Mora is lively, friendly and attractive.
The campsite, which is good for family holidays, is only ten minutes’ walk from the town. The camping area with its 600 pitches (around 450 for touring and 313 with 10/16A electricity) is large, grassy, open and flat. It is bordered by clumps of trees and a stream. The staff are pleasant and helpful.
Travel to Nusnäs, an old village with documents going back to the Middle Ages, and see the production of the brightly coloured wooden horse, Dala. Every household should have two for luck. Winding country roads lead you through rich farmland to the pretty half timbered houses in Bergkarlås/Vattnås.
