Camping le Beauchêne is a traditional and very French family site located in the southern Vendée, around 20 minutes from the large resort of Les Sables d’Olonne and just over 10 km. from the nearest sandy beaches. There are 131 pitches of which 60 are for touring, attractively grouped on either side of a small, well-fenced fishing lake; all have electricity (6/10A). The remaining pitches are occupied by mobile homes, with 37 available to rent. This quiet site comes to life in high season with activities for children and adults.

Boules competitions and aquagym are organised in July and August, as well as karaoke, moules-frites and dance evenings. The friendly owners are keen to welcome more British visitors. Avrillé is a large village with a bar, restaurant and small supermarket. Nearby Jard-sur-Mer offers a good range of restaurants, shops and a large supermarket. Les Sables d’Olonne, to the north, is renowned for the quality of its restaurants specialising, unsurprisingly, in fish and seafood. Contrasting days out could include the spectacular Puy du Fou historical theme park and the tranquil wooded marshlands of the Marais Poitevin (La Venise Verte).

The main toilet block is fairly basic but has been partially refurbished with some washbasins in cabins, and pushbutton showers. Washing-up and laundry rooms. Washing machine. Baby bath in family shower room. Accessible Facilities. Motorhome services. Bar/snack bar and takeaway (July/Aug and some weekends). No shop. Bread to order (July/Aug) Heated swimming pool with paddling pool (all season). Fishing (free). Small play area for younger children. Activity and entertainment programme (July/Aug). Directions to Flower Camping le Beauchêne

Avrillé is on the D949 Les Sables-Fontenay road 23 km. east of Les Sables. From A87 Cholet/La Roche-sur-Yon leave at exit 32 for La Tranche-sur-Mer and follow D747 La Tranche road to junction with D949, then head west to Avrillé. The site is well signed on eastern end of village.
