This is a very well equipped, modern campsite in a lesser known area of the Ardèche. There are 97 good sized, level pitches, all for touring with electricity (10A) including 76 which are fully serviced, both shaded and part shaded. Good quality mobile homes and chalets are available to rent. A small river pool provides opportunities for bathing, fishing or canoeing (free life jackets), with one part of the area quite safe for youngsters. A new spa has a sauna, jacuzzi, Hammam, ice fountain and a boutique. Well run and with the emphasis on personal attention, this is a highly recommended site.

Originally a farm, les Ranchisses is now run as an Auberge and a friendly family campsite, which is no simple task, but one that the Chevalier family seem to manage quite effortlessly. The Auberge is set in the original 1824 building that once used to house silk worms. It has a good local reputation and serves meals and takeaway food at lunchtime and evenings (all season) either inside the cave-like restaurant or outside on the attractive, shaded terrace. Larger units should always make a reservation before arriving, whatever the season, to ensure a suitable pitch is available. The site is well within reach of a number of villages in the area that have been singled out as having a particularly appealing character. You are also close to the renowned Ardèche Gorge but located in an area which will have fewer tourists in the high season.

Directions to Domaine les Ranchisses

Largentière is southwest of Aubenas and best approached using D104. Just beyond Uzer, 16 km. from Aubenas, turn northwest on D5. After 5 km. at far end of Largentière, fork left downhill signed Rocher and Valgorge. Site on left in 1.8 km. just beyond rocky gorge. The approach from Valgorge is not recommended.
