Formerly known as Camping de Molen, City Camping Antwerp is a convenient, former municipal site located on the bank of the River Schelde, opposite the city centre. It is possible to walk into the heart of this ancient and interesting city (the historic 'Sint-Anna Voetgangerstunnel' is just under 2 km. from the campsite, and is about 500 m. long), although cycling may be a better option. The free ferry also crosses the river regularly.

The site is fairly level with tarmac roads, and has 95 pitches, 45 for touring units, 34 for campervans all with access to 10A electricity hook-ups. You will need the adapter cable (deposit payable) as the electric hook-ups are not like any you have seen before, and some long leads may be necessary. The nearby Grote Markt, Kathedraal and Groenplaats are all worth a visit. The site is located within Antwerp's Low Emission Zone, so vehicles using this site should be registered for the LEZ scheme in advance of travel.

Facilities at City Camping Antwerp

Toilet facilities, clean when we visited, could be hard-pressed at times, especially when everyone returns from a hard day of sightseeing. Basic accessible facilities. WiFi over site (first 30 minutes free). Overall the facilities are acceptable though the fees reflect the city-centre location. Twin-axle caravans are not admitted; American style motorhomes may be accepted if you phone first. Swimming pool next door to the site, a separate fee payable.

Directions to City Camping Antwerp

Follow the E34 in the direction of Antwerp and continue to follow Antwerp Left Bank until the intersection with lights (ESSO petrol station on the right) - turn left there - follow until the end and turn 90° to the right - drive to the end - turn right briefly to cross the central lane with cycle path and turn left - past the row of houses and before the car park in front of you, take the wide road to the right, this road turns right - the first street on the left is the marina road.
