Alan Rogers Review of Camping Huttopia La Plage Blanche
Huttopia La Plage Blanche is located in the Jura, by the rippling waters of the River Loue. This spacious eight-hectare site has 202 pitches (171 for touring, 40 on the riverbank). All are large, grassy and level with 10A electricity (Europlugs).
This is an excellent site for family holidays with its children’s activities and themed evenings in the bar/restaurant (DJ or live music) in high season. Other activities include kayaking, canoeing, fishing, fly fishing and woodland walks in the campsite’s woods. Several distinctive safari-style tents are available to rent. At low water levels, the river provides an ideal setting for children to swim and play safely in the gently flowing, shallow water.
The activities centre just before the site entrance (discounts for campers) offers canoeing, mountain-biking, adventure circuit and an aerial runway across the river. The site provides local maps showing circular routes taking in all the local sights and places for wine- and cheese-tasting. At the end of the day, the bar area, with a wood-burning stove on cold evenings, or the terrace in summer, overlooking the river, is an attractive place to relax after a busy day.
