Located on the banks of the Grand Lac de Laffrey, in the heart of the mountains, you will find the Au Pré du Lac campsite. The camp has 96 pitches with 83 for touring units, all of which have electricity (4A). This campsite is ideal for those who love outdoor sports; you can find kayaking, windsurfing and diving lessons at the campsite's private waters edge. For those that enjoy hiking and mountain biking, the Isère's mountains have it sorted for high-up hikes, climbing and spectacular scenery from several local peaks. Ski resorts are a few kilometres away, including Les Deux Alpes. On-site, there is a bar/ restaurant where you can sample meals offering traditional cuisine with local fresh produce with views over the lake, a communal BBQ area, a Children's playground, pétanque and Wifi.
Camping Au Pré du Lac's local village of Saint-Théoffrey is on the RN 85 highway between Grenoble and the French Riviera near Cannes, part of the Route Napoleon took on his way back from the island of Elba during the early days of the Hundred Days War. If you're driving it (do, it's rather scenic), look out for the gilded eagle statues to guide you on your way. Vizelle and its château are about ten kilometres from Saint-Théoffrey – go here for its gardens and a wander around the huge carp-filled canal in front of the château – and Grenoble is about 28km away, for the final stop on the Route Napoleon, more mountainous sports, and a cable car (or hike) for cracking views of the Alps from La Bastille fortress.
