You can be sure of a friendly welcome in English at this attractive site on the Danube cycle route. Reception, bar, restaurant and flowered terrace are located on the dam top from where there are views of the Danube and surrounding countryside – an ideal place to try out the local drink, cider, and home-smoked trout. The 45 touring pitches are in a protected area behind the dam, all with 13A electricity. A separate area accommodates 30 tents; each area has its own well-maintained sanitary facility. The pitches are grassy and separated by hedges.

This is a small, well-organised site where a lot of thought and work has been put in by the two owners. Although the camping area is comfortable and attractive with landscaping, flowers and a small lake, most visitors will spend their time either enjoying the views from the restaurant terrace or touring the region.

To enable visitors to make the most of their stay the site has produced its own large information map of which there are two copies, one in reception and the other in the camping area.

Directions to Camping Au an der Donau

Site is 20 km. east of Linz. From Autobahn 1, take Asten or St Valentin exit and head for Mauthausen. Follow signs for Au an der Donau where site is well signed. It is the orange building on top of the dam.
