Nestled on the tranquil shores of Loch Naver with direct views of Ben Klibreck, Altnaharra Caravan and Motorhome Club site in Lairg is ideal for those wanting to get away from it all - the closest shops are 20 miles away. This site does not have a toilet block.

Walkers, anglers and birdwatchers will love the unspoilt natural wonders on offer in and around the site. Flyfish for free from the lakeshore; attempt to spot over 70 different species of birds or admire the red deer roaming in the wild. Those staying on-site have non-motorised boating rights on Lake Naver (conditions apply), which is ideal for those with small rowing boats and dinghies.

Walks range from ambles across gentle hills, such as nearby Ben Loyal, to areas like Munros, where explorations in places like Ben Kilbreck and Ben Hope make for a good challenge. Also within easy reach of the site, a visit to Cape Wrath by ferry and minibus to see Scotland's most north-westerly point, its spectacular lighthouse and the highest sea cliff on the British mainland at Clo Mor (900 ft) will take your breath away.

Pets allowed. Dog walk adjacent. No children's play area. Twin axle caravans accepted. No Late night arrivals area. Spar supermarket 25 miles away. No tents allowed. The earliest time of arrival: 1:00pm. Maximum outfit length of 8.5 metres.

Directions to Altnaharra Caravan and Motorhome Club Site

Turn right off A836 (Lairg - Tongue) at crossroads 0.5 miles past Altnaharra Hotel onto B873 (Syre). The site is on the right in about 3 miles between road and loch shore. The minor road to Hope is not suitable for caravans. If approaching from North (Bettyhill) on B873: on arrival at the site, drive through gate into site entrance, park outfit, then book in at the office. This is to prevent causing a traffic hazard and requiring to reverse on the narrow road.
