Alan Rogers Review of Walnut Lakes Holiday Park
Based around two small fishing lakes, this unusual, well maintained adults only park consists of two Caravan Club CLs, each with its own entrance, together with a number of public licence pitches and four wooden lodges, two of which are for hire. Reception is via the right-hand entrance. There are a total of 24 pitches, all with metered electricity connections (16A, cards £1 and £5), 12 on hardstandings and 12 on grass. Awnings and groundsheets are not allowed on the grass. The park is particularly popular with anglers, but there is plenty to do and see in the area, with easy access to several major towns.
At the junction of the A17 with the A16, a few hundred yards away, is a service area with shop and restaurant while the nearby village of Sutterton has a shop and post office, a pleasant pub and a ‘chippie’. Walkers and birdwatchers are well catered for, with the River Welland nearby, and there are a number of restaurants in the area. The nearest large town is Boston, with its impressive ’stump’, (the spectacular tower of St Botolph’s Church). From here, you can take a boat trip down the River Witham to view the bird life of the Wash. Spalding is an alternative destination for those looking for shops, pubs and restaurants and there is a popular shopping outlet nearby. Further afield are the Wash National Nature Reserve to the south and Skegness to the north. Other days out could include King’s Lynn and even the north Norfolk coast.
Facilities at Walnut Lakes Holiday Park
